Whatever the reason may be, a broken sump pump can cause plenty of problems for you and your family. As industry experts, we want to provide a quick solution whenever this emergency might arise. Here are some of the key reasons why you might need a battery backup pump:
● Your home is in an area with a lot of rainfall.
● Your home experiences frequent power outages.
● Your existing sump pump is old or doesn’t receive regular maintenance.
A basement flood requires a time-consuming and expensive cleanup. These emergencies can shoot your stress levels through the roof. Depending on your coverage, a basement flood could increase your insurance premium. Not to mention, massive floods can permanently destroy family property and collectibles.
If any of these apply to you, a battery backup pump for your sump could be what you need to protect your home from flooding. Get in touch with our team today to get an upfront quote.
Numerous things can cause your sump pump to lose power. The most apparent reason is power outage due to powerful winds and rainstorms. However, other things might cut the power to your pump, such as a family member unplugging it by mistake.Another big mistake homeowners make is buying a sump pump based on the price, and not its capacity. If your low capacity sump pump needs to pump large amounts of water frequently, it’s likely to fail eventually. Even large, powerful pumps can still fail after rigorous use.
One common cause of an inactive sump pump is a faulty float switch. The float switch is responsible for signaling the sump to turn on once the water level reaches a certain height. If the float switch is broken or stuck, your sump can’t activate and drain the water.
No matter the cause, your sump pump losing power can lead to every asset in your basement being destroyed by floodwater.
The battery backup sump pump kicks on as soon as your original sump pump stops working. Although sump pumps are exceptionally powerful, the battery backup works as a second-line defense when the first pump loses power. The battery backup pump is a completely different system than the original sump. It will turn on if the first sump turns off for any reason. Typically, a battery backup pump will come equipped with a control box that runs monthly tests to ensure it’s still functioning properly.
Some battery backup pumps can connect to your smartphone, which notifies you if there’s any unusual activity in your original sump. It’s important to know that you should install a battery backup in addition to your existing system, and not as a stand-alone pump.

Rocco Monaco from Invisible Excavation (IE) was sent to my house on 11/7/24 because he is the best plumber to fix a problem that resulted from a faucet replacement by another plumber in the IE sister company, ARCO. My sink was cracked during faucet installation. It was immediately apparent to me that Rocco is very knowledgeable. He knew immediately what was causing the drain to leak and how to remedy the situation. He returned on 11/12/24 and installed a.new vanity sink top and connected the plumbing flawlessly. Rocco has incredible work ethics, amazing customer service, and he cares for the customer. He is someone who can be trusted because he sets very high standards for himself and is a true master of his craft.

Princesten Gordon was very informative and very polite. This was my first time with a tankless water heater, and Princesten took the time to go over and explain to me what he was doing and help me to figure out how to program it in the future. It was a pleasure to have him service my water heater and I look forward to doing business with him and Arco in the future.

You should hire an experienced, licensed plumber to install a sump pump. When installing a sump pump, there is a significant construction component – such as digging through a concrete basement floor – and important steps to ensuring pipes are in the right place to pump the water outside, away from the foundation.
Additionally, hiring a licensed plumber can also mean the project is completed in less time and for a lower cost than what it would take you to buy all the materials.
The average cost for installing a new sump pump is between $700 to $1,500. This estimate depends on the work needed to be completed before the actual equipment installation can occur, the type of sump pump you select, and other important factors.
If you’re thinking of replacing or installing a sump pump, contact the sump pump experts at Invisible Excavations today.
Sump pumps usually last 10 years, depending on the amount of wear it goes through each year and how well the moving parts hold up over time.
If your sump pump seems to be acting up, it may be because it’s hitting its life expectancy. Give Invisible Excavations a call today for sump pump maintenance or replacement.
Because sump pumps usually mean the difference between a dry basement and a wet, damaged basement when heavy rain hits, a battery backup sump pump is worth the investment.
They’re simple to install, easy to maintain and will help your sump pump continue to run if the power goes out during a heavy rain storm.
From excess, stagnant water in your pump to a sewer line breach, a bad smelling sump pump can mean your pump needs minor maintenance, or it can signify a more serious problem in your sewer line.
While there are a handful of DIY methods to reducing or removing sump pump odor, it’s best to contact a licensed plumber. Implementing the wrong odor reducing method can exacerbate the issue and failing to catch a potentially big problem can mean big issues for your sump pump and sewer system.
Contact Invisible Excavations today to handle your sump pump issues.
